Who is going to be the 2012 British Open Champ? By the time this post hits the airwaves it will probably be nearing completion of the tournament, but as I am writing this it is still Friday afternoon following the completion of most of the second round. Tom Watson made an amazing putt on the 18th hole to have a shot to make it to the weekend. AMAZING! I enjoy watching Watson play with the big boys at his age. But, the real story has been the play of Brandt Snedeker. He shot a 6-under 64 on Friday to take the lead from first round leader Adam Scott. And lurking as usual is Mr. Woods. He holed an improbable birdie bunker shot on 18 to finish at 6 under par, 4 shots back of Snedeker and 3 back of Scott. I think it would be awesome to see Snedeker win it, but another part of me wants to see Woods and Scott battle it out while caddy Steve Williams tries to psych-out Tiger.
Whoever wins this tournament is irrelevant. The British Open is still one of the best tournaments to watch every year. I love seeing the guys struggle through wind and rain and whatever other monsoon type weather can be found in Britain. Enjoy the second to last major and let’s get ready for the PGA and the FedEx Cup.
