Athletes are some of the most recognizable people in the country and some are known worldwide. And, much like actors and actresses their fame can sometimes get the better of them.
Athletes have been known to run their mouths and say stupid things on social media. So why do people care so much? I know that I have heard people say worse things about other players, coaches, world events, people, etc., and yet because they are celebrities they get drilled into the ground because of something they say.
How about we as a community stop caring about what these athletes are saying and start thinking about our own lives. Does Ronaldo’s alleged nickname for Messi mean anything to me? NO, not at all. Whether it’s true or not, does it effect the way he is gonna play on the field or the way I am going to live my life? NO.
Humans are prone to err and mistakes, that’s just the way it is. I think the world needs to stop giving a s**t about what their favorite athlete said about Ebola or domestic violence and worry about themselves. Not too sure why this is eating at me right now, but there it is.
Everybody is bound to make some mistakes in their lives. Let’s take a second to reflect on their actions and then move on. Not everybody can be a walking inspirational quote machine like John Wooden.
“Don’t measure yourself by what you have accomplished, but by what you should have accomplished with your ability.”
