The Miami Marlins have decided to pay slugger Giancarlo Stanton $325 Million dollars over the next 13 years. I don’t know what everyone else is thinking, but I really think that’s a bad idea. Not once has a long term deal like this been worth it in the end. Just look at Alex Rodriguez’s 10 year, 250 million dollar deal.
Sorry, but nobody is worth that kind of money to play a sport. It’s ludicrous. I am thankful that the Angels gave Mike Trout a 6 year deal before the season started however. That deal probably saved the Angels roughly 100 million dollars in the long run.
We shall see what happens to Stanton in the coming years, but I really doubt that any player could literally be worth 325 million dollars.
